MY OPINION - WICB APPOINT SUPERMAN OR BATMAN-?

WICB APPOINT SUPERMAN OR BATMAN-????????????
============================================
The West Indies Cricket Board announced last week, they were adding strength to their executive in Antigua.

Good News or Bad News?

Tony Deyal has been appointed Corporate Services Manager (CSM) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) with effect from September 1, 2006.

But exactly what is that?

Is it a new role? The filling of an old , vacant position or just an offensive sounding name for someone with a lot of portfolios , but no time or staff to do any good.

The new post of CSM and this is not Caribbean Single Market, but given what follows below, it can be interpreted to be as difficult as that includes responsibility for the functions of Corporate Secretary, Corporate Communications, Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations.

Let me repeat , in case it was not clear , Little old Deyal at 50 plus is now required to take responsibility for the functions of Corporate Secretary, Corporate Communications, Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations.

Which means, the West Indies Cricket Board has managed to achieve the impossible yet again, and certainly there must be some record here, even if it be for the most insane ideas?

How can one person be – Corporate Secretary (co-ordinate meetings, attend all management meetings, take minutes, then circulate minutes, file annual returns with government, etc)

And still be Corporate Communications chief (monitoring the issuance of press releases, attending press conferences, conferring with various members of the West Indies Cricket Board on messages for the West Indian Public, and in some cases even marketing)

And still be Human Resources leader (dealing with all current employees of the Board, from MONTHLY pay packets to health, pension and other benefits)

And still be HEAD Honcho for all matters dealing with –Industrial Relations -, which means any union agreements and union discussions on pay hikes, or matters involving dismissal of any employee has to be approved by him.

He must be SUPERMAN

Maybe, actually in this West Indian Cricket atmosphere, the most appropriate superhero is – BATMAN – for Tony Deyal.

However unlike Hollywood, there will no prizes for acting, instead he may face only further despair and torment.

If there are additional employees being hired to assist him, then we need to know.
If, as we have discovered several of these roles were never filled, but instead managers were not only doubling up but tripling up and more, then the decay of the West Indies Cricket Board is explainable.

Kenneth Gordon, the President of the WICB needs to clarify a lot of these points, which reek of mismanagement in the past and present.

Oh by the way, Tony Deyal has a fifth job; he is a twice weekly columnist all over the region.ummmmmmmmmmm

This is Andre Errol Baptiste, saying – Have no Fear, the Fearless One is here -
