WEST INDIES LOSE FIRST TEST BY NINE WICKETS

LARA TON IN VAIN

Pakistan wrapped up the first Test against West Indies by nine wickets shortly after tea on day four in Lahore.

Set just 13 to win, the hosts lost Mohammad Hafeez for one, trapped leg before wicket by Corey Collymore, but Imran Farhat (eight) led the hosts to victory in just over five overs.

Earlier, Umar Gul was the star of the show for Pakistan as he claimed four for 99 in the second innings to overshadow Brian Lara's resilient 122.

Gul finished with an overall match haul of nine for 164.

Shahid Nazir also played his part claiming three for 63, as the tourists were all out for 291 in their second innings, with Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (81) doing the bulk of the scoring.
