CLIVE LLOYD JOINS TEAM
Clive Lloyd is joining Bennett King's management team for the ICC Champions Trophy.
Following consultations with the King and captain Brian Lara, the WICB said it asked the former West Indies skipper to join squad in India to "assist in any way which will build morale, strengthen the team's performance and encourage a stronger culture of professionalism and discipline."
As a WICB director and chairman of cricket committee, the board said Lloyd will serve the dual purpose of WICB representative, to explore opportunities for additional games next year as well as to make his vast experience available to the team.
"Clive will be in India essentially to support Tony Howard and the team management. It is something we've done before and we know that Clive's vast experience in leading victorious West Indian teams in the past would be an additional asset to the touring team," said WICB president Ken Gordon.
The defending champions will play its first qualifying match on Sunday, October 8 against Zimbabwe.
