ST. JOHN’S, Antigua - West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle has been appointed captain of the West Indies team for the Digicel Home Series against Sri Lanka.
Gayle was nominated by the Selection Committee and the nomination was approved by the West Indies Cricket Board today.
The powerful left-hander and clever off-spinner led the West Indies team in the absence of former captain Ramnaresh Sarwan but was injured during the tour of South Africa and had to return home.
