GALVIZ SEEKS TO RETAIN TITLE WITH TREBLE

Reigning Champion jockey in Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuelan Wilmer Galviz stole the show on Day 30 of the Arima Race Club meeting yesterday, notching a 15/1 treble.
Galviz had to wait until the fourth race to record his first victory astride 2-1 second favourite –Mystery Girl – following two second place finishes in Race 2 ( Angel of Music) and Race 3 (Bright King) , behind winners -Music Man- with Neela Mohammed in the saddle and Marci’s Dreamer respectively..
Galviz then registered back to back victories in Races 9 and 10, with Privilege at 1/1 and Carnival Dancer at 4/1 respectively.
Mohammed’s victory with -Music Man- , means that with ten racing days left in the 2006 season, Mohammed leads the jockey’s championships with 41 wins, with Galviz second on 37 wins.
Fresh from winning the Trinidad Derby in September , 17 year old Barbadian Apprentice Chris Husbands won easily with American Importation three year old filly –Naparima- at 7/2 who has been racing in Barbados previously, owned by Jamaican Suzanne Costello-Haloute and trained by Jamaican born , Barbados trainer Andrew Nunes.
Husbands was earlier on , third aboard Gray Warrior in Race 3 and also third aboard one time Trinidad Derby hopeful – Piarco – in Race 8 , which was won by the Glenn Mendez trained –Jacobite- .
Jamaican Ricardo Hibbert was unplaced in his two rides aboard –Deadsure- in Race 5 and -Pan Kaiso- (Race 8).
Racing takes a break until October 28th, when Betting Levy Board day will be staged, with several feature races planned and the eager reappearance of
