T&T POSITIVE OF MAINTAINING SUPREMACY OVER BARBADOS
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - Trinidad and Tobago's senior team are aiming to maintain their dominance of cricket in the Caribbean and will be going all out to win the Carib Beer Series and the KFC Cup.
Manager Omar Khan and his confident T&T team arrived in Barbados Tuesday evening for the opening round of the Carib Beer Series where they face Barbados at the North Stars ground on the island's north coast.
"The conditions don't make a difference to us at all. If we play against Barbados at Accra Beach we will be focused on the job," Khan said on arrival.
"It doesn't matter. We are here to play cricket. It is about which team better adapts to the conditions and plays the better 'mental' game will be the successful team. We aim to win, to win everything."
The North Stars ground was chosen to provide a distinct home advantage of a lively pitch to favour fast bowlers. Barbados' chairman of selectors Joel Garner had previously suggested that the Trinidadians have a weakness against genuine pace bowlers.
"We are well prepared. We had preparation right up to Old Year's Day and we are well equipped for the challenge. We have a mixture of youth and experience and we have steady, strong team," Khan said.
"In the last three encounters we beat Barbados. We beat them in the Carib Beer Cup in the Carib Beer Series and we beat them in the Stanford 20/20. Se we beat them in Trinidad, we beat them in Barbados and we beat them in Antigua.
"We know Barbados will be formidable opponents in Barbados ... it won't be easy, but nothing worth having comes easy. We have our game plan and we will execute it."
