RAMANRESH SARWAN IS DETERMINED TO COME GOOD IN PAKISTAN

SARWANS SAYS HE IS MORE DETERMINED (West Indies in Pakistan)

MULTAN, Pakistan - West Indies vice captain Ramanresh Sarwan said his team is very determined to win the second Test match against Pakistan in Multan starting on November 19. Sarwan was responding to questions from the media on Friday after the team's practice session.

Following are excerpts from Sarwan's responses:

On whether the team is determined to stage a fight back in the second Test:

We are very determined to win this game. Losing the first Test was a huge blow to us but we have two Tests to go and this one is especially important to us because we have to win it to draw the series.

We would love to go into the final Test match with the series level and still open. That is our plan, we are looking to draw the second Test and ensure the series is still open going into the final Test in Karachi. We will need to play consistent cricket over the five days, batting, bowling and fielding to overcome Pakistan.

On what went wrong in the first Test in Lahore

I believe it was a combination of things. Getting bowled out for 206 on the first day on that sort of surface in Lahore made it difficult for the rest of the Test match. The dropped catches did not improve our chances either and there were also a few things which didn't go our way which was totally out of our control.

On how determined he is to contribute significantly to the team total:

I am more determined than any other time. I have been in poor form for the longest while, I haven't gotten any scores together on the entire trip to Asia and I am looking to put together a big score in this Test match to try and help the team.

On the threat posed by Pakistani fast bowlers Umar Gul and Shahid Nazir:

I think that it's not going to be any different facing Gul and Nazir in Multan. In fact the conditions here seem to be good for swing bowl because when we trained today it was very overcast and thick. We should not worry about that aspect of it though as bowlers have to do their job and we have to do ours as batsmen. This is when you need to prove yourself in different conditions.
